Hi everyone, my name is James Sixsmith, and I’m one of the guys behind Take Profit Trader. I say “one of” because I have the tag as founder and CEO, but I’m hardly the only one behind making this work.

My story is not groundbreaking. I was a professional hockey player (a career minor leaguer in fairness to those who play at the highest level), who looked around and said WTF am I going to do with my life after sports.

This led me to start down on my trading journey. I lost nearly $150,000 initially because I was naive. You don’t know what you don’t know, right? With the help of a teammate who had much more money, I was able to SLOWLY make the turn to profitability. What I learned after speaking at many seminars and talking to thousands of traders was that everyone was making the same mistakes. When I told them what I did wrong, I’d have people come running up to me and say, “oh my god, your words make me feel like I'm looking in a mirror.”

I felt their pain, so my next step was to try and start helping people, which led to my first company, Trade Context. Trade Context was a combination of education and 3rd party funding to get our traders “funded.”

We have been building Take Profit Trader for a few years because we wanted to be able to do everything in-house. I didn’t want to charge money for trading education anymore. It seemed wrong (and I hated getting grouped with the snake oil salesman of the industry). My vision for a trading utopia is:

There is nothing more frustrating than going to a funding company and failing a funding test due to some ridiculous rule. Our aptitude tests are straightforward, not setup to “churn” test fees.

We will eventually have all asset classes. Many “prop shops” out there are just for one asset class, we are going to do them all.
